PEAK? Automotive Products has named ?Hawk 911: The Hawkulance? the winner in its ?PEAK Performance Winning Drive Tour,? a national game day contest that scoured the nation looking for the best tailgating vehicles. In turn, the Hawk 911?s driver, KC Fleming from West Burlington, IA has won a trip with nine friends to the BCS National Championship in New Orleans on Jan. 9, 2011.
Hawk 911 was created in 2009 by a group of friends who found the ambulance on Craigslist, a perfect fit for the group as many of them worked in the health care industry. The vehicle was revamped to include a satellite dish, flat screen television, microwave, refrigerator and an attached grill to feed hungry Hawkeye tailgaters. To top it off, an attached loudspeaker system encourages fans to sing the Hawkeye fight song.
PEAK visited a number of college campuses looking for the best tailgating vehicles and also accepted picture and video entries on its Facebook page from anyone with a tailgating vehicle that showed team pride. From Nov. 11-18 fans were able to vote among five finalists on the page, with the most votes going to Hawk 911, making the unique vehicle the ultimate winner.
